Notes - Darius arrived at Saint John with his father's family in 1783 with the Spring Fleet, the first of six major government-provided fleets of ships to carry loyalist exiles from New York to Saint John in that year. On March 15, 1785, Darius and Arden Dickinson petitioned for Lot 70 at Gagetown, stating they had "arrived with the first fleet, next May will be two years," and stating their ages as Darius "will next May be 21 years old" and Arden "18 in April next." On April 4, 1805, Darius, who signed with his mark, and wife Mary, sold Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, fronting on the St. John River, in the Parish of Wakefield, to Ard Dickinson (probably Arden, his brother), Wakefield, for two hundred pounds. The deed was witnessed by Joseph Woolverton and John Dickenson. Presumably he removed to Fredericton, New Brunswick at this time and practiced his trade as a tailor. Darius Dickinson, "late of York County," died prior to 26 October 1808, on which date the widow, Mary Dickinson, renounced administration of Darius' estate in favour of the principal creditor, Henry Smith. Her signature was witnessed by Peter Dickinson and Arden Dickinson. Note included by Polly Shaw: In Vital Statistics (newspapers): Estate of Darius Dickinson, Fredericton; Administrator: Henry Smith, 29 Dec. 1808.
